Don't Vote on Ignorance

Tomorrow is the big day, the vote to end all votes, the election of our life times. We stand on the precipice of a gigantic metaphorical cliff. No matter what your political affiliation, I think we can all agree that this election is likely the most important we will ever see. America can turn its back on the racism of over 200 years of existence and elect the first black president, or we can follow a leader who seems deadset on repeating the still-fresh mistakes of the previous administration. We can reward hard work and intellectual honesty, or we can champion the cause of ignorance, intolerance and small-town arrogance. Believe what you want to believe and vote your conscience, but by all that is holy, please don't vote on ignorance. Don't vote because someone said something about someone's voting record, vote because you actually took the effort to understand that candidate's positions. I always recommend Project Vote Smart, a web site that contains as much information in one place about politicians as any other. You'll be able to find voting records, public statements and policy positions on most any candidate, from the Presidential to Congressional races. Vote for what you believe, but make sure what you believe is actually supported by the asshole who gets your vote. There is no reason to vote ignorant.
